Bernhard Burgener was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1957. After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies, he chose to go into business for himself in 1983 and began his career as an entrepreneur with the foundation of Rainbow Video AG in Pratteln, Switzerland – which is now Rainbow Home Entertainment AG. In 1994, Bernhard Burgener and a business partner acquired a 50 percent stake in Highlight Communications AG in Pratteln, where he subsequently served as "Delegierter" (CEO) of the Board of Directors. In 1999, he became President (Chairman) of the Board of Directors and took over responsibility for day-to-day business operations at Highlight Communications AG, leading the media company onto the stock exchange in May 1999. Following stock market flotation, the same year also saw the company take a stake in T.E.A.M. Holding AG of Luzern, Switzerland, and later in Constantin Film AG of Munich, Germany. As President (Chairman) of the Board of Directors of Highlight Communications AG and its major shareholder, Bernhard Burgener has since been responsible for corporate strategy for the entire group of companies.
Since September 1, 2008, Bernhard Burgener has held the position as CEO of Constantin Medien AG as well as President of the Board of Directors and CEO of Highlight Communications AG. In addition, he is CEO of Constantin Film AG and President (Chairman) of the Board of Directors of T.E.A.M. Holding AG.
